On Farm Breeding :
We offer the traditionnal type of breeding : on farm breeding. Your female is brought to our farm where she will stay for a 60 to 90 days period. During her stay at our farm, we take good care of your female and her cria. We breed your female to the AHV herdsire of your choice and take care of every pregnancy follow-ups until her departure. When requested by the client, we can have an ultrasound or a progesterone blood analysis performed before her departure (paid by the owner of the dam). Your female can be picked up 60 to 90 days after the last successful breeding, and of course, boarding is free during that period. Prior to the arrival on our farm, we request that a BVD* test be performed on the cria at foot or on the female herself if she does not have a cria at foot. If a companion is brought with the female, a BVD test must be provided for the companion also.
Drive-By Breeding :
In the first 24 hours after breeding, the stress does not influence a female's chances of successfully getting pregnant. Some breeders will therefore prefer to bring their female back to their farm within that 24 hour window. For this type of breeding service, the female is brought to our farm. We let her relax in a breeding pen for an hour or two so she can recover from transport. When the female seems to be calm and relaxed, we bring the male to her for breeding. After the breeding is over, we let the female relax in that same pen for 2 to 3 hours to let her release her hormones. After this 2-3 hours period, the female can be transported back to her farm. Since she is back home with her herd within the same day, her stress in greatly reduced compared to the "On farm" breeding option. The follow-ups are the responsability of the owner of the dam. If the pregnancy is lost, the female will have to be taken back to our farm for a re-breeding. We offer a 500$ rebate for all Drive-By breedings. We require that your female or her cria be BVD* tested prior to their arrival. If the cria has not been tested, we will ask that he be pulled from the breeding pen during the breeding to avoid any contact with our animals. If the cria has not been tested, we require that the female herself be tested.
On the Road Breeding :
With the On the Road service, our male is the one doing all the travelling. We transport our male to your farm and the breeding get get started within a minutes of our arrival. We leave with our male within the hour after the breeding is over. This is the less stressful type of breeding for your female. She does have to be transported, she never leaves her herd and you keep both your female and cria under your care. The pregnancy follow-ups are the responsability of the dam's owner. In the case of a lost pregnancy, we will come back with our male another time without charge. If more than 2 tries are necessary, some transportation charges might apply. We require that your female or her cria be BVD* tested prior to our arrival. If the cria has not been tested, we will ask that he be pulled from the breeding pen during the breeding to avoid any contact with our male. If the cria has not been tested, we require that the female herself be tested.
