Welcome to Alpagas des Hauts Vents !
We both grew up on the Island of Montreal, in the West-Island. We were on our way to successful careers in huge companies when we decided to have our first child. That's when everything changed !!!
We soon realized that the city life wasn't for us. We were missing the contact with nature, the peace and quiet of the country. We would have liked to become farmers, but the investments needed were much more than what we could afford.
Then, over the Internet, we fell in love with the alpacas! After more than 1 year of research and a 2nd child later, we bought our first alpacas : 2 double registered females. Then, 2 breeding males. Our objective was to breed colored animals that would be of the same quality as the white ones.
Our animals arrived a few months after our 3rd child did. Since then, we live the real life. Our alpacas teach us a lot about life and the fact that stress is not a necessary thing!
In 2007, we bought 3 single registered females. When chosing them, we followed the same quality rules we had established for our double registered ones. We wanted to offer a less expensive alternative to new breeders.
Then, 2008 brought us our 4th child and even more alpacas !
Our goal is to spread the joy of the alpaca life in Quebec and promote their wonderful fiber. We believe that we need to increase the number of farms in Quebec, to grow the provincial herd and insure a good supply of alpaca fiber for processors and designers.
We love to talk pacas ! Don't hesitate to contact us for information or for a farm visit. If you want to start your farm, we can help and guide you through the process !
Our farm is located in Havelock, near Hemmingford, south of the Monteregie.
