Welcome to Alpagas des Hauts Vents !
We both grew up on the Island of Montreal, in the West-Island. We were on our way to successful careers in huge companies when we decided to have our first child. That's when everything changed !!!
We soon realized that the city life wasn't for us. We were missing the contact with nature, the peace and quiet of the country. We would have liked to become farmers, but the investments needed were much more than what we could afford.
Then, in 2004, over the Internet, we fell in love with the alpacas! After more than 1 year of research and a 2nd child later, we bought our first alpacas. Our animals arrived in 2005, a few months after our 3rd child did. Since then, we live the real life. Our alpacas teach us a lot about life and the fact that stress is not a necessary thing! Because of them and our new life, our 4th child was born in 2008.
In 2009, we were approched by John and Val MacLeod of Aztec Alpacas to take over their herd as they wished to retire gradually. Having the opportunity to profit from their 20 years experience in alpaca breeding came as a blessing. We were (and still are) so excited to add their incredible genetics to our herd and we are honored that they have chosen us to continue their work. If an Oscar is the ultimate prize for a film maker, earning the trust of breeders like John and Val MacLeod is an alpaca breeder's Oscar!
Our goal is to spread the joy of the alpaca life in Quebec and promote their wonderful fiber. We believe that we need to increase the number of farms in Quebec, to grow the provincial herd and insure a good supply of alpaca fiber for processors and designers.
We love to talk pacas ! Don't hesitate to contact us for information or for a farm visit. If you want to start your farm, we can help and guide you through the process !
Our farm is located in Havelock, near Hemmingford, south of the Monteregie.
